DIY FX.com is all about special effects for the do-it-yourselfer. Instead of being dependent upon props, decorations and scenery available from local retailers, specialty shops and theatrical supply companies, we'll show you how to design and build your own. We cover special effects, lighting effects, chemical & fire effects, prop building, animated props & displays and all-round cool things to build. Whether for a stage production, a Halloween haunt, school event, or a theme party, we can help you do it right. Whether you are looking for ideas for a party theme, need to make it snow on your Christmas display or want to scare the pants off trick or treaters, we can show you how.
We start with the basics and show you all the steps you need to know in order to create an effect. We don't assume you are experienced with electronics or any other skill. If you find an article on this site, and you need more information, submit your question to our forum or directly to customer service and we'll do our best to get you the information you need.
The projects you find on this site are explained from the perspective of how we would approach them. That doesn't mean that there aren't other or even better ways to do them. If you have a good idea and want to share it, let us know.
So lets starting building some special effects.
